We are just about halfway through the conference season for men’s basketball but the 2026 men’s basketball Conference USA Tournament which, will be played in Huntsville, Alabama beginning March 10, is inching closer.
Liberty has raced out to a fast start in conference play and currently sits atop the CUSA standings with an unblemished league record. Still, several teams still have their eyes set on the regular season title while others are fighting for a positioning within the conference standings as only the top 10 teams will advance to the tournament in Huntsville.
Here’s a look at the current standings:
And here’s how the conference tournament would look if the season ended today:
The Flames are currently the No. 1 seed. A top two seed is a good spot to be, as those teams play a team that had to play in the opening round the night before, and, teams that play in the quarterfinals on Wednesday get a day off before the semifinal round on Friday. Liberty would currently play the winner of 8-seed Western Kentucky and 9-seed UTEP first round game on Wednesday with the winner of that contest advancing to Friday’s semifinal against the winner of #4 Jax State and #5 Kennesaw State. Riding a six game winning streak, Sam Houston has risen to the 2-seed Currently, New Mexico State and Delaware would miss the CUSA Tournament.
There’s still plenty of basketball to play and plenty of movement that will be made between now and when the CUSA Tournament tips off.
