The Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs will travel to Liberty Mountain this Saturday in hopes to improve to 3-4 on the season.

The Flames and Runnin’ Bulldogs will showdown in Williams Stadium on Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and LFSN Radio (The Journey 88.3 FM).

The Runnin’ Bulldogs will be the Flames third home game of the season. The Flames have designated Saturday’s game as their homecoming game.

Gardner-Webb sports two wins and four losses thus far in the season. Last week, the Bulldogs dominated the Robert Morris Colonials for a 48-0 win. The Bulldogs also lost a close game to undefeated Coastal Carolina in their second game of the season.

Gardner-Webb’s team this year is comprised of many veteran players. The Bulldogs had 24 starters return for the 2022 season, including starting quarterback Bailey Fisher and running back Narii Gaither.

Head coach Tre Lamb is currently in his third season leading the Bulldogs. He led the team to a 4-7 record in 2021 and a 2-2 record in the shortened spring 2021 season. Lamb began his coaching career in 2013 as the quarterback coach for Tennessee Tech. He then worked at Mercer in the same position before returning to Tennessee Tech as offensive coordinator for the 2018-2019 seasons.

Gardner-Webb and Liberty have a long history in college football. Since 2000, the Bulldogs and Flames have played eighteen times. Liberty has won twelve of those matchups and has a two-game win streak on the Runnin’ Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs rotate running backs frequently in their offensive scheme. Running backs Narii Gaither, Donovan Jones, and Janiero Crankfield all have all had 25+ rush attempts this season.

Three Players to Watch For

QB #14 – Bailey Fisher has thrown for 1,189 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions this season. Fisher has also rushed for 5 touchdowns this season. Fisher played a great game last Saturday and is by far Gardner-Webb’s biggest offensive asset.

DE #47 – Ty French has 5.5 sacks, 16 solos tackles, and 1 forced-fumble this season. French is a physical player that draws a lot of attention from the protecting offensive line.

WR #0 – T.J. Luther has had 21 receptions for 464 yards and 3 touchdowns this season. Luther had 124 yards and 1 touchdown last Saturday. Luther and Fisher have a strong connection that will likely be seen this Saturday.
