FOOTBALL PRACTICE BEGINS MONDAY

Liberty begins preparation for its 2016 season in earnest on Monday as August’s training camp opens. We will have plenty of updates from you on the first day of practice as well as throughout camp as we continue to countdown to kickoff on September 3rd at Virginia Tech.

7 FORMER FLAMES IN NFL TRAINING CAMPS

There are 7 former Flames currently in NFL Training Camps across the league. Walt Aikens and Dominique Jones are with the Dolphins, Jacob Hagen is with the Steelers, Rashad Jennings is with the Giants, Darrin Peterson is with the Bears, John Lunsford is with the 49ers, and Niko Davis is with the Chiefs. We’ll keep you updated on each of these guys and their progress through camp.

AARON PIERRE COMMITS

Coach Gill picked up his 3rd commitment in the Class of 2017 when defensive back Aaron Pierre pledged to the Flames this week. Pierre is a 2-star prospect from Tampa, Florida where he attends Cambridge-Christian. He also had offers from Bowling Green and Buffalo. Pierre joins linebacker Remington Green and offensive lineman Cooper McCaw as early commitments.

CUFFEE TRANSFERS TO LCA

According to the Charleston Gazette-Mail, Liberty commit Elijah Cuffee is transferring to Liberty Christian Academy in Lynchburg for his senior season. Cuffee is a 2-time first team all-state player at Poca High School in West Virginia. He helped lead Poca to the Class AA state title in 2015 and state runners-up in 2016. Cuffee led the team in scoring last season at 19.8 points per game. At LCA, Cuffee will be a teammate of current Class of 2017 commit Jay Barber.
