As the start of the 2022 NFL season continues to grow closer, teams are making changes to their rosters to prepare for the pending season. Liberty has numerous players that are looking to make various NFL teams’ 53-man final roster or be part of a 14-man practice squad.

Organized team activities (OTAs) will take place over the next several weeks with mandatory mini-camps taking place in mid-June. NFL teams will hold their training camps in mid-July with the preseason beginning in early August. The regular season is scheduled to start on Thursday, Sept. 8.

Here’s a look at some recent news regarding Flames in the NFL:

Jessie Lemonier

Lemonier was claimed off waivers last week by the Arizona Cardinals. He had been released by the Detroit Lions, but he didn’t last long as the Cardinals picked up the linebacker quickly. Lemonier played in seven games for the Lions last season after playing in six games for the Los Angeles Chargers as a rookie in 2020. He has 1.5 sacks in his two NFL seasons.

Antonio Gandy-Golden

AGG was a fourth round pick of the Washington Football Team in the 2022 NFL draft. Unfortunately, his rookie season was interrupted by a hamstring injury that saw him spend two months on injured reserve. Gandy-Golden was cut ahead of the 2021 season, but Washington quickly re-signed him to its practice squad. He was activated for one game last season but mostly spent his time on the practice squad. He signed a reserve futures contract with the Commanders in January.

Now, Gandy-Golden is trying a new position. According to John Keim of ESPN, the rising third-year pass catcher will now try to make Washington’s roster as a tight end. Keim reports that this is a move that was in the works since the offseason began.

Malik Willis

Some first impressions of Malik Willis with the Tennessee Titans, after his rookie orientation.

Storey Jackson

Jackson stood out during rookie minicamp with the Dallas Cowboys and is a dark-horse to make the roster.

Kevin Shaa

Shaa has seemed to make a good impression during his time with the Chicago Bears so far, as he will be looking to make their roster this summer.

Others

There hasn’t been much news on the other Flames that signed as undrafted free agents following the 2022 NFL Draft. Skyler Thomas (Chargers) and Duron Lowe (Rams) went through rookie minicamp. The same is the case for those that got rookie minicamp invitations – Johnny Huntley (Bears), Elijah James (Bears), Cedric Stone (Commanders), Ralfs Rusins (Ravens), and Tristan Schultz (Dolphins).
