Liberty Men’s Basketball continued its record pace this weekend by winning the D.C. Holiday Hoop’s Fest on Saturday.

This is the second tournament the Flames have won this year, as Liberty also won the Islands of Bahamas Showcase last month. The Flames won 80-67 against Akron in the championship game. LU had 4 players finish in double figures, Caleb Homesley led the team with 16, Scottie James had 15, Elijah Cuffee and Georgie Pacheco-Ortiz finished with 12 points a piece.

Liberty closed the first half with an 11-0 run giving the Flames a 32-28 lead that they never gave back. Cuffee hit a 3 pointer with 14:58 left in 2nd half, which made it a 44-34 Flames lead, the Flames led by double digits for most of the remainder of the game.

The 14 game win streak is the longest in school history, surpassing the 1980 team that won 11 straight.

All eyes will be on LU when the Flames play December 29th a week from today against LSU. This will be the second SEC opponent for the Flames this month after beating Vanderbilt. The game will be in Baton Rouge and televised on SEC Network at 1:30 EST.
