According to several reports, including Gary Bedore, former Liberty center Evan Maxwell is transferring to Kansas.

Liberty head coach Ritchie McKay announced the big man’s intent to transfer at the end of the 2015-2016 academic year in a March press release. The 6’10” center finished the 2015-16 season 2nd on the team in points averaging 10 points per game. He was also 2nd on the team in rebounds with 4.8 per game and led the team in field goal percentage, shooting 63.7% from the floor. Maxwell had 4 20-point games on the year, including a career-high 24 points at Radford on December 3rd.

Maxwell chose Kansas over Baylor, Virginia Tech, and Cincinnati. He won’t be the first player to transfer from Liberty to a college basketball “blue blood” under Coach McKay as Seth Curry transferred to Duke in 2009. Curry is currently in the NBA with the Sacramento Kings.
