Former Liberty wide receiver Demario Douglas has concluded his rookie season in the NFL and it was a special one.

Douglas was drafted in the 6th round by the New England Patriots in the 2023 NFL Draft, and he immediately began to grab his team’s attention. Throughout the offseason and into training camp, the Liberty product turned heads and it was evident he would make an impact this season.

Despite missing three games this season due to concussions, Douglas finished the 2023-24 NFL season leading the Patriots in receptions, targets, and receiving yards. His 49 receptions on 78 targets are the most receptions by a Patriots rookie under head coach Bill Belichick. He was just three yards away from setting the same mark for a rookie under Bellicheck in receiving yards.

Douglas finished his rookie campaign with 49 catches for 561 yards. He also rushed the ball 7 times for 41 yards. As the team’s punt returner, Douglas finished the year with 11 punt returns for 57 yards.

He had a season high in yards on Nov. 12 against the Indianapolis Colts when he finished with 84 receiving yards. His 6 receptions that day also tied his season high in catches, also accomplishing that feat on Nov. 26 against the New York Giants.
