Former Liberty wide receiver Demario Douglas will play in the Super Bowl after the Patriots defeated the Denver Broncos, 10-7, in the AFC Championship on Sunday. It was a defensive battle dominated by the weather as New England had just 206 yards of offense while the Broncos were held to 181. Drake Maye completed just 10 of his 21 passes for 86 yards in the win, targeting Douglas just one time, a deep pass down the sideline that fell incomplete.

Douglas will become the second Liberty alum to play in the Super Bowl, joining Dwayne Carswell. Carswell played in Super Bowl XXXII and XXXIII with the Denver Broncos, winning both. He is currently the only former Liberty player to play in and win a Super Bowl. Carswell had 1 reception for 4 yards in Super Bowl XXXII and did not have a reception in Super Bowl XXXIII as John Elway led the Broncos to consecutive Super Bowl titles.

Douglas and the Patriots will play the Seattle Seahawks at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Sunday, Feb. 8.
