Conference USA released its 2023 conference schedule on Tuesday. The eight-game conference slate completes Liberty’s 2023 schedule as the Flames will be competing in the nine-member CUSA for the first time this coming season.

Liberty’s schedule features seven of their 12 games being played at the friendly confines of Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Virginia. Five of the eight conference games will be played during the midweek with two of those midweek games being played at home. of Liberty’s seven home games, five will be played on a Saturday, one on a Thursday, and one on a Tuesday.

Liberty will open up the Jamey Chadwell era to begin the 2023 season on Sep. 2 at home against Bowling Green. The very next week, the Flames will play its first ever CUSA game when New Mexico State makes the trip to Lynchburg. Liberty will step back out of conference play on Sep. 16 and hit the road for the first time of the season to play at Buffalo.

Following an open date on Sept. 23, the Flames will begin a stretch of five consecutive conference games played during the midweek. On Thursday, Sep. 28, Liberty will play at Florida International. The next Thursday, Oct. 5, the Flames will play their first of two midweek home games, playing host to FBS and CUSA newcomer Sam Houston State.

Just five days after playing the Bearkats, Liberty will hit the road to play at Jacksonville State on Tuesday, Oct. 10. This will be the first of three straight played on Tuesday, two of them away from home. On Tuesday, Oct. 17, Liberty welcomes Middle Tennessee to Williams Stadium and then plays at Western Kentucky on Tuesday, Oct. 24.

Liberty will then have an 11-day layoff as the schedule transitions back to the traditional Saturday dates when the Flames play host to Louisiana Tech on Nov. 4.

The Flames’ non-conference game against Old Dominion has been pushed back into November to help accommodate the conference schedule. Liberty will play the in-state rival on Nov. 11 at Williams Stadium in a game that was originally scheduled for Sep. 30. The non-conference and home schedule will conclude the next week, on Nov. 18, when the Flames host UMass.

Liberty’s regular season and conference finale is scheduled for Nov. 25 at UTEP. The Conference USA championship game will be contested at the home site of the No. 1 seed in the league on Saturday, Dec. 2.
