Liberty assistant head coach and linebackers coach has announced his retirement following one season on Turner Gill’s staff at Liberty. This is Torbush’s 2nd retirement as the former North Carolina head coach retired in 2011 when he was serving as Defensive Coordinator underneath Turner Gill at Kansas. When Torbush retired in 2011 it was following his prostate cancer diagnosis.

Many will remember Torbush for his time as head coach at North Carolina. Torbush was North Carolina’s head coach from 1997-2000.

Torbush is the 2nd assistant coach on Gill’s staff to leave Liberty after just one season following Special Teams Coordinator Mike Minter’s move to Campbell as head coach.
