Week 1 of our Bold Predictions Challenge is in the books, so we look ahead to what the Flames have in store this week at WVU. Think you know what will go down in Morgantown?

If you haven’t played before, it’s simple. Participants answer each question and then pick three Bold Predictions each week, leaving their answers in the comments. Each correct multiple choice question is worth 2 points and each Bold Prediction that comes true is worth 5.

We’ll keep track of your points throughout the year, and the champion will be receiving two tickets to a 2016 away game of their choosing, with a t-shirt prize for the runner up. Here’s our standings thus far as FLAMEfromBAMA took week 1:

Plan on a short lived reign FLAMEfromBAMA, I’m coming for you.

Everyone received 3 bonus points for participation, in case your score looked kind of funky. If you are a big James Harrison fan and want to return your participation points, just let me know in the comments section.

If you didn’t play last week, no worries, one weekly score will be dropped from your overall score at the end of the year, so you are still in great shape to win!! With that said, let’s get to it:

1. Who will have the most all-purpose yards for the Flames?

A) Des Rice

B) D.J. Abnar

C) Darrin Peterson

Jennings, wrecking people back in the day

2. Who will get more fantasy points this week (ESPN Standard Scoring)?

A) Rashad Jennings

B) Charles Sims and Tavon Austin combined

Jennings is the lead back in the Giants offense but won’t be dominating the carries in their committee styled attack. Meanwhile Sims checks in as Tampa’s number two option at running back, and Tavon Austin is considered St. Louis third option at wide-out.

chima3. Will Chima Uzowihe make it to the Liberty career sack record against WVU?

A) He will break the record

B) He will tie the record

C) He won’t make it to the record

Uzowihe is currently one sack away from the Liberty career sack record. Will he break it Saturday?

4. What will be the first score of the game?

A) WVU Touchdown

B) Liberty TD or field Goal, or WVU field goal

5. How many times  will Trey Turner pin the Mountaineers inside their own 20.

A) 0

B) 1

C) 2

D) 3+

Turner had great accuracy last year and may be punting a lot on Saturday.

6. What will be the game’s final margin.

A) WVU win by 6 points or less, or Liberty win

B) WVU win by 7-17 points

C) WVU win by 18-28 points

D) WVU win by 29-39 points

E) WVU win by 40+

Bold Predictions (pick 3)

lunsford1. John Lunsford has an in the air kickoff that does not result in a touchback.

My guess is that Lunsford will pound the ball out of the back of the end zone as many times as necessary on Saturday. Also note that “in air kickoff” just means that an onside kick would suffice in fulfilling this prediction.

2. Any Liberty player will lead the game in all-purpose yards.

Des, D.J., or Petey. Think one of them has a chance to record the most yards of anyone in the game? It won’t be easy, WVU had three different players gain 100+ yards last weekend.

rQ8bbx6.jpg3. LIBERTY WINS!

Currently a 34.5 point dog, the Flames have their work cut out for them…..but there is a chance!

4. Wendell Smallwood records fewer than 100 yards rushing.

Smallwood actually didn’t make it to the century mark against Geogia State, but he did rush for 96 yards on 11 carries. As the feature back in the Mountaineer offense, Smallwood will usually be getting 100+ yards, but our front seven is the strength of our defense.

walt15. Walt Aikens records more tackles than Bruce Irvin this week.

Irvin has been a fixture of the Seahawks defense for a few years, meanwhile, Walt makes his first start this week for Miami. Irvin will have the advantage since he plays linebacker.

6. Josh Woodrum throws more touchdowns than Liberty has turnovers.

We did a good job in turnover game against Delaware State, but West Virginia will be a whole different monster. I expect that the Flames will air it out more against the Mountaineers, so Woodrum could get 2-3 TDs.

Picks must be submitted by 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Good luck!
