The Flames had an impressive sweep against High Point this week, winning by scores of 6-4, 8-1, and 4-1. The wins move them to 18-7 on the year and 5-1 in the Big South. They also move up to 37th in RPI nationally.

Closer, Ashton Perritt, has now recorded seven saves on the season.

Liberty has now won 15 of their last 17 contests and have held opponents under two runs per game during this stretch.

Shawn Clowers and Jared Lyons have continued their outstanding pitching performances throughout March. Lyons now has a .52 ERA through 34 innings pitched, and Clowers has not allowed a run (0 ERA) through 20.1 innings pitched and has struck 21 batters out while only walking 1. The Flames’ recent success definitely stems from the duo’s solid play along with the rest of the pitching staff.

Player of the Week: Danny Grauer

Grauer came up huge for the Flames in games 1 and 2 of the High Point series, launching multiple balls to the warning track. In game 1 he hit a triple off the wall that scored two runs, then scored the tying run himself to help the Flames to a 6-4 victory. In the second game Grauer batted in two runs on a ground rule double, then batted himself in on an inside the park home run, unfortunately due to a scary High Point injury.

Grauer is now second on the team in slugging percentage (.506) while batting .271 with 3 home runs.
