Liberty will not be playing in a bowl game this season, but several of the Flames’ 2025 opponents will.

Liberty’s 2025 schedule ended up featuring eight teams that advanced to a bowl game. The Flames finished the regular season with a 1-7 record against those bowl teams. Liberty defeated Delaware while losing to Jacksonville State, James Madison, Old Dominion, Missouri State, FIU, Louisiana Tech, and Kennesaw State.

Here’s a look at where those teams will be playing this bowl season:

  • Old Dominion (9-3) is headed to the Cure Bowl to play South Florida on Dec. 17
  • Delaware (6-6) will play Louisiana in the 68 Ventures Bowl on Dec. 17
  • Missouri State (7-5) will play Arkansas State in the XBOX Bowl on Dec. 18
  • Kennesaw State (10-3) will play Western Michigan in the Myrtle Beach Bowl on Dec. 19 in a meeting of the CUSA and MAC champs
  • Louisiana Tech (7-5) is headed to the Independence Bowl to play Coastal Carolina on Dec. 30
  • Jacksonville State (9-4) will play Troy in the Salute to Veterans Bowl on Dec. 16
  • FIU (7-5) will play UTSA in the First Responder Bowl on Dec. 26
  • James Madison (12-1) will play Oregon in the first round of the CFP Playoffs on December 20 at 7:30 p.m.

The eight bowl teams faced in one season is now the most the Flames have ever played in a single year. Last year, Liberty was 2-2 against bowl teams. In 2023, Liberty was a perfect 6-0 against bowl teams during the regular season. In both 2021 and 2022, the Flames were 4-3 against bowl teams. In 2020, Liberty was 1-1 against bowl teams, and in the Flames’ first season as a full FBS member in 2019, Liberty played four bowl teams (Louisiana, Buffalo, BYU, and Virginia), going 1-3 in those games. In 2018, the Flames were 1-4 against bowl teams.

Liberty is now 20-23 against bowl teams since becoming an FBS member. 2024 ended a streak of three straight seasons the Flames posted a winning record against bowl teams.
