The Liberty Flames are looking to get back to an NCAA Regional this season for the first time since 2022 as we approach the stretch run of this season. Liberty is currently 32-13 overall and 15-6 in CUSA play, having moved into second place following a series win over Delaware this past weekend.
The Flames are currently at 31 in RPI, setting the team up for good shape in the at-large field discussion should the team not win the CUSA Tournament. The Flames have a 4-5 record against Quad 1 opponents, 14-6 in Quad 2 games, 2-0 in Quad 3 games, and 12-2 against Quad 4. Liberty is currently being projected into the NCAA Tournament field by most projections this week. CUSA is also pegged to get three teams in the field by many. Let’s take a look at those projections.
The Flames are currently being pegged as a 3-seed in the Oxford, Mississippi Regional by D1Baseball, hosted by No. 11 overall seed Ole Miss. Other teams in this projected regional include 2-seed Southern Cal and 4-seed Lamar.
UCLA is picked as the No. 1 overall seed while the other regional hosts projected by D1Baseball are Georgia Tech (2), Texas (3), North Carolina (4), Texas A&M (5), Georgia (6), Kansas (7), Auburn (8), Oregon State (9), Coastal Carolina (10), Ole Miss (11), Nebraska (12), Mississippi State (13), Florida (14), Florida State (15), and Southern Miss (16).
In Baseball America‘s projected field this week, Liberty is a No. 3 seed in the Atlanta, Georgia regional where No. 2 overall seed Georgia Tech would be the host alongside No. 2 seed East Carolina and No. 4 seed Rider.
In other Regional projections this week, Liberty is being projected into the field by College Sports Madness as a three-seed in the Charlottesville Regional alongside Virginia, LSU, and Brown. On3 Sports currently has Liberty as a three-seed and one of the last four teams in the field with the Flames playing in the Atlanta Regional alongside Georgia Tech, Kentucky, and Fairleigh Dickinson.
The Flames play this weekend at New Mexico State for a three-game series. There are just three more regular season weekend series before the CUSA Tournament begins in Kennesaw, Georgia on May 20.
