Sophomore kicker John Lunsford wears #49 for the Flames. Lunsford hails from Evangelical Christian High School and Fort Myers, Florida. He was 8/12 on field goals during his true freshman campaign in 2012 with a long of 50. He has range of well over 50 yards even up to 60 yards in ideal situations. In an underrated part of his game, 25 of his 40 kickoffs went for touchbacks. Lunsford is also the backup punter should something happen to starter Grant Bowden. If Lunsford stays healthy, he could go down as one of Liberty’s all-time greats at kicker.

Gill did pick up a punter as a preferred walkon so that may afford some opportunity to keep Lunsford from being overworked should Bowden get injured
