Liberty picked up its 2nd verbal commitment in the class of 2020 following a Junior Day that saw nearly 100 prospects visit campus. Cameron Hunter, a 3-star athlete from Chesapeake, Virginia, committed to the Flames on Tuesday.

Hunter is a 6’1″, 200 pound prospect that attends Indian River High School with offers from North Carolina and Virginia Tech. Cameron’s older brother, Devon, was ranked as a 5-star and top 50 national prospect by Rivals and signed with Virginia Tech out of high school in 2017. He has made an early impact with the Hokies as a defensive back. 247Sports rates Cameron as a 2-star prospect while ESPN pegs him as a 3-star.

Hunter could play on either side of the ball, as he projects as either a linebacker/safety on defense or a wide receiver on the offensive side of the ball.

Coach Freeze has quickly made recruiting Virginia, particularly the 757, a priority, and that area has proven fruitful for the Flames. Liberty picked up late commitments before the February signing day in 4-star corner Tayvion “Tank” Land out of the 757 and Kei’Trel Clark was another heavily recruited corner out of Richmond that signed with the Flames. Hunter joins teammate Lincorey Lucas as the first two verbals in the class of 2020. Hunter and Lucas are both ranked by 247Sports as top 50 prospects in the state of Virginia for the class of 2020, Hunter checking in at #43 and Lucas at #48. They have two other teammates in the top 50, LaMareon James is a 3-star corner who is ranked #17 in Virginia and Gerrien Christopher is a 3-star WR who is ranked #30 in Virginia. All 4 of them were on campus for Liberty’s first junior day.
