Former Liberty outfielder Ian Parmley has been called up by the Toronto Blue Jays. He was promoted from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday prior to Toronto’s game with the Kansas City Royals and made the start in right field, marking his major-league debut.

Parmley becomes just the 5th Flame to make the major leagues and the first since Lee Guetterman (1984-1996, Mariners, Yankees, Mets & Cardinals) played for the Mariners in 1996. Doug Brady (1995, White Sox), Sid Bream (1983-1994, Dodgers, Pirates, Braves & Astros), and Randy Tomlin (1990-1994, Pirates) are the other Liberty alums who have reached the majors.

Thus far in 2017 with the Bisons, he hit .289 with one home run and 20 RBIs in 60 games. Parmley was drafted in the 7th round of the 2012 MLB draft by the Blue Jays after starring for Liberty in 2011 and 2012.
