The Liberty Flames men’s basketball team will open the 2017-18 season Friday night against Clarks Summit. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm in the Vines Center.

The Defenders are a Division III program from Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. Liberty defeated Clarks Summit, 81-33, last year thanks to 18 points from Brock Gardner and Myo Baxter-Bell’s first career double double (16 & 11). This will be the 3rd straight season Liberty has faced Clarks Summit, also defeating the Defenders, 90-52, in 2015. The Flames are 4-0 all time against Clarks Summit.

Coach McKay and the Flames were picked 3rd in the preseason Big South poll, and Ryan Kemrite and Georgie Pacheco-Ortiz were named to the 2nd team All-Big South preseason team. Liberty defeated VCU, 85-69, on October 26th in the teams’ only public scrimmage. Ezra Talbert led the team with 23 points on 5/5 shooting from 3 point range.
