After falling to Florida State earlier in the week, Liberty went 2-2 at the Bama Bash in Tuscaloosa, Alabama over the weekend before their game Sunday against Purdue was cancelled. The Lady Flames are 2-8 on the season, dropping all 8 games against Power Four opponents this season including six against top 10 opponents.

TUESDAY: #5 FLORIDA STATE 8, LIBERTY 0 (6 innings)

The Seminoles left eight runners on base over the first four innings, leaving the bases loaded in both the first and third frames while taking a 1-0 lead into the fifth inning. FSU put the game out of reach with a five-run fifth inning.

Liberty was held to just 3 hits and committed three errors while leaving four runners stranded. Jazzy Francik earned the win for FSU, allowing two hits in four innings of shutout softball, extending her streak of 17 straight runs without allowing a run to begin the season.

Gabby Mike drew the loss for the Flames, allowing two runs on five hits, walking three, and fanning three in 4.1 innings. Caitlyn Nesbitt and Kaylan Yoder both yielded two earned runs. Savannah Jessee, Alexia Carrasquillo, and Ella Fox had one hit each for the Lady Flames.

FRIDAY GAME 1: LIBERTY 5, GEORGIA SOUTHERN 3

Camden Anders entered the game with Liberty trailing, 3-2, with one out and a runner on third base in the top of the fifth. Anders got out of the jam with a fly out and a pop-out. The Lady Flames tied it in the bottom of the fifth on a solo homer by Paige Doerr, the first home run by the Lady Flames this season. Liberty jumped ahead with a two-run sixth inning. Savannah Jessee drew a leadoff walk. Pinch runner Aubry Norris then scored on an RBI double by Alexia Carrasquillo. Maci Strickland made it 5-3 with a two-out RBI single to help lift the Flames to its first win of the season.

Liberty outhit Georgia Southern, 8-5. Anders earned the win, the first of her career, tossing 2.2 innings of no-hit relief while walking and striking out one. Starter Caitlyn Nesbitt yielded three runs on five hits in 4.1 innings. Carrasquillo went 2 for 3 with a double, one RBI, and a run scored, while Maci Strickland batted 2 for 3 with one RBI.

FRIDAY GAME 2: #8 ALABAMA 6, LIBERTY 3

Liberty built a 3-2 lead after two innings, but left five runners on base in the process. Gabby Mike held the Tide hitless in the second and third before Alabama took the lead with a four-run fourth.

Both teams registered eight hits with Liberty committed two errors and leaving eight runners on base. Kaitlyn Pallozzi earned the win, allowing three hits and striking out five in 5.1 scoreless innings.

Gabby Mike fell to 0-4 on the season in the loss, allowing six runs on five hits, walking two and fanning one in 3.1 innings. Camden Anders pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief. Brynn McManus went 2 for 4 with two RBI for the Flames while Alexia Carrasquillo batted 2 for 4 with one RBI. JaMaya Byrum was 2 for 3 with one run scored and Ella Fox hit 1 for 4 with 2 runs scored.

SATURDAY GAME 1: #8 ALABAMA 8, LIBERTY 0 (5 innings)

Both teams got a runner to third with nobody out in the first and failed to score. The Tide struck for four runs int he second and maintained their 4-0 lead going into the bottom of the fifth. Three Alabama singles set up Audre Vandagriff, whose grand slam ended the game in run rule fashion.

Alabama held an 8-1 advantage in hits. Vic Moten improved to 5-0 on the season with a one-hit shutout, walking one and fanning five. Liberty’s Katie Love drew the loss, allowing three runs on two hits and walking four in one innings. Caitlyn Nesbitt yielded one unearned run in one innings before Camden Anders gave up four runs in 1.1 innings of work. Paige Doerr recorded Liberty’s lone hit in the game.

SATURDAY GAME 2: LIBERTY 6, GEORGIA SOUTHERN 1

Liberty scored once in the first inning, and the score remained 1-0 until the Lady Flames homered twice during a five-run sixth. Georgia Southern’s Carley Ramsden broke up Gabby Mike’s shutout bid with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the seventh.

The Lady Flames outhit Georgia Southern 15-3 for the game. The Lady Flames left 10 runners on base. Gabby Mike earned her first career win, allowing one run on three hits, walking one, and fanning four.

Five Lady Flames had multiple hits, with Maci Strickland going 3 for 4 with a homer, the first of her career, two RBI and one run scored. Savannah Nash batted 3 for 4. Brynn McManus went 2 for 3 with a home run, two RBI, and one run scored while Paige Doerr was 2 for 4 with two doubles, an RBI and run scored. Ella Fox went 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored.
