For most teams around the country, attention will begin to turn full time to basketball season. It’s no different for us here at ASOR, and with it that means its time for our first CUSA Power Rankings of the new season. These are based on games played through November 30.

1. New Mexico State #113 (6-0)

The Aggies have been very good under third year head coach Jason Hooten to begin the season. They beat in-state rival New Mexico, as well as UC Irvine, Samford, and Georgia State.

2. Western Kentucky #128 (5-2)
   no change

The Hilltoppers opened the season at 4-0 before losing to Vanderbilt and South Florida this past week. They bounced back Friday with a win over Wichita State.

3. Middle Tennessee #152 (4-3)
   no change

The Blue Raiders defeated Murray State, 90-87, on a neutral floor for their best win so far this season. They also defeated Evansville and have losses to Michigan, George Washington, and McNeese.

4. Liberty #104 (5-2)
   no change

The Flames got off to a strong start with four straight wins, including impressive performances against Charleston and Florida Atlantic. Liberty did have a disappointing trip to Orlando for the ESPN Events Invitational, dropping two of three games.

5. Sam Houston #136 (5-2)
   no change

The Bearkats have had a strong start to the season and have won four straight, including wins over Wyoming, Idaho State, and Idaho. Their losses have been against Texas Tech and Utah.

6. Louisiana Tech #176 (4-2)
   no change

The Bulldogs split a home and road series with Indiana State while also picking up wins over Jackson State and Alcorn State, as well as a season opening loss at Nevada.

7. Kennesaw State #171 (5-2)
   no change

The Owls have picked up wins over Florida A&M, Rice and FGCU, with losses to South Florida and Oral Roberts.

8. FIU #212 (3-3)
   no change

The Panthers beat Nebraska Omaha their last time out, their only win over a Division I team this year. FIU’s losses have come to Nebraska, LSU, and James Madison.

9. Jacksonville State #219 (3-3)
   no change

The Gamecocks only win over a DI opponent came against Coastal Carolina. Since then, they have dropped three straight, falling to South Alabama, Arkansas State, and North Dakota State.

10. Missouri State #249 (3-3)
   no change

One of two newcomers to CUSA this season, Missouri State beaet UT Rio Grande Valley in their only D1 win so far, and they have losses to Arkansas State, UT Arlington, and Long Island.

11. Delaware #226 (2-4)
   no change

The Blue Hens have had a rough transition to Conference USA so far, falling to non-Division I school Wilmington Delaware, as well as to Bucknell, Southern Illinois, and BYU. They have picked up wins over Saint Peter’s and UNC Greensboro in two of their last three contests, as they may be starting to figure things out.
