Lunsford is suspended for the 1st half against Brevard

Lunsford & kicking game
Kicker John Lunsford has been suspended for the 1st half of the game, and Shane Blanchard will get his first collegiate action.

After a solid freshman campaign where Lunsford was 8/12 on his field goals, he has had a bit of a sophomore slump this year. Lunsford is 7/17 on field goals this year including connecting on just 2 of his last 8 attempts.

Offensive line injuries
With multiple offensive lineman dealing with injuries this week, it will be interesting to keep an eye on the rotation of lineman and their level of play. Greg Ray, Malcolm Boyd, and Jonathan Burgess are all dealing with various injuries. Expect increased workloads for Ethan Callison and Grant Jones.

Big South championship race
With Charleston Southern’s upset over Coastal Carolina last week, the Big South football championship race has suddenly opened up. CSU leads the pack at 3-0, Coastal and Liberty are tied at 3-1 with just 2 weeks to play for the Big South auto-bid. Here’s this week’s schedule:
Presbyterian @ Coastal Carolina 1pm on ESPN3
Charleston Southern @ Gardner-Webb 1:30

This is Coastal’s last conference game of the season as they face South Carolina next week. A win by Coastal will eliminate the Flames from Big South auto-bid contention. Coastal would finish 4-1 in the Big South, and Liberty could only tie them with a win over CSU next weekend. In a 2 way tie, the Chanticleers would get the tiebreaker due to their head to head win over the Flames. In a 3 way tie with CSU, Coastal would beat Liberty due to a better performance this season according to Sagarin ratings.
