While not all the details have been finalized, it appears Liberty Assistant Basketball Coach Jason Eaker and Liberty University will part ways on good terms. Eaker was originally placed on administrative leave on November 30, 2012.

Eaker was charged with obtaining drugs by fraud or deceit. According to court records, on November 29, 2012, Eaker pled guilty to “POSSESS SCH I/II CON SUBSTANCE” which is a class 5 felony charge. He was placed on 12 months probation and 6 months with a suspended license. Eaker plead guilty to this charge as part of a plea deal to be placed in the 1st offenders program. Also as part of the plea deal, Eaker would get all charges removed from his record upon a successful completion of his probation. His probation includes 100 hours of community service and professional drug treatment. Both of which Eaker states he has already completed. The charges stem from Eaker making a photocopy of his own presciption for Adderal of which he has been on for 10 years.

Eaker has been with the Flames since 2005 when he started as Director of Basketball Operations. He was promoted in 2007 to Assistant Coach. He is Liberty’s longest tenured assistant coach, and has served on Liberty’s coaching staff under 3 head coaches – Randy Dunton, Ritchie McKay, and Dale Layer.
