Former Liberty University head coach and current Virginia assistant coach Ritchie McKay will be introduced as Liberty’s new head men’s basketball coach at a press conference at 1pm today.

McKay has spent the past 6 years as the top assistant at the University of Virginia, helping to vault the Cavaliers to one of the top programs in the country and consecutive regular season ACC championships. McKay came to Liberty as its head coach in 2007 and left just 2 years later to join Tony Bennett’s staff in Charlottesville. His departure happened just days after former Liberty guard Seth Curry transferred to Duke.

McKay was 39-28 in his two seasons as Liberty’s head coach and led the Flames to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament in 2009.
