According to the Football Scoop, Youngstown State running backs coach Ron Brown will be joining the Liberty staff and coaching the wide receivers.

Brown followed Bo Pelini from Nebraska to Youngstown State in January. Prior to his brief stint at YSU, he spent 24 seasons as an offensive assistant coach at Nebraska including the past 4 seasons as running backs coach. At Nebraska, he coached the tight ends, running backs, and wide receivers while being under 3 different head coaches – Pelini, Frank Solich, and Tom Osborne.

Liberty head coach Turner Gill worked with Brown at Nebraska from 1992-2003.

Brown is an outspoken Christian and has said he likes to put his “Christian faith high on display.” He also said, “wherever I’m at, that’s how it’s got to be. I caught flak for it in Nebraska, got in trouble for it numerous times, but I’d do it all over again.”

Former wide receiver coach Juan Taylor was relieved of his duties on April 2nd.
