According to Ed Miller and the Virginian-Pilot, Phillip Sims will not be transferring to Liberty or any other FCS team for that matter. As was reported in early June, Liberty was said to be the leader for Sims. He has apparently reduced his list of schools to “three or four” and hopes to have his decision finalized next week. According to Miller, he’s only considering FBS and Division II schools, but would not identify those schools.

Sims spent the 2012 season at Virginia after spending his freshman year at Alabama. Last season he was 114/203 passing for 1,263 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions. He also rushed for 18 yards and 2 touchdowns. Sims was the #2 rated quarterback coming out of high school in the class of 2010. Sims is originally from Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Virginia.
