Liberty has landed a transfer from Wake Forest in Will Smith, according to Chris Lang of the News & Advance. Smith is a 6’5″, 305-pound offensive lineman with 2 years of eligibility remaining. He is immediately eligible.

Smith

Smith is originally from Christchurch, Virginia and was a 3-star rated prospect out of high school with offers from Wake Forest, Hampton, and James Madison. He saw playing time in 12 games during his 3 seasons at Wake and started the final 4 games of 2014 at left tackle. Smith redshirted in 2012 before seeing action in 2013 and 2014.

Smith will immediately help the Flames and provide valuable depth at a position that has lost several pieces since the close of the 2014 season, most recently James Passmore. Passmore finished spring practice as the 2nd-string right guard, but will miss 2015 with a torn hamstring, as reported by Lang.
