1. Stony Brook 9-2, 5-1

Man, what a difference a week makes. Stony Brook goes from contending for a seed in the FCS playoffs to being on the bubble after their loss to Liberty 28-14. Based on the way the Big South’s 3 way tiebreaker would play out, Stony Brook will be pulling for Liberty to lose at VMI next week. Stony Brook’s regular season is finished so they will just have to wait to see their playoff fate.

1. Coastal Carolina 6-4, 4-1

Coastal Carolina had no problem with Presbyterian dispatching the Blue Hose 65-7. Now, if Coastal defeats their rival Charleston Southern in their season finale, and Liberty defeats VMI, Coastal will be in the playoffs for a 3rd time.

1. Liberty 5-5, 4-1

Liberty with a historic win on Saturday against Stony Brook as they beat the Seawolves 28-14. It was the program’s first ever win over a top 10 opponent, and extended their Big South conference record of 18 consecutive home conference wins. Liberty must beat VMI and have Charleston Southern defeat Coastal to make the playoffs. Liberty is 5-1 in their past 6 games; quite the turnaround from opening the season 0-4.

4. Charleston Southern 5-5, 3-2

Charleston Southern defeated Gardner-Webb 28-10, and in doing so staked their claim to #4 in the conference. With a win Saturday against Coastal, CSU could tie Coastal for 3rd place in the conference standings, and make plenty of friends in Lynchburg and across Flames Nation.

5. Gardner Webb 2-8, 1-4

After the top 4 teams this conference is putrid. Gardner-Webb gets the “honor” this week of being the top of these 3 teams. The Bulldogs are coming off a 28-10 loss to Charleston Southern. Gardner-Webb should get a win in their season finale against the Blue Hose.

6. VMI 2-8, 1-4

VMI fared admirably against the Citadel in the Military Classic of the South, but came up short losing 27-24. VMI will close their season out with a chance to play spoiler and cost Liberty a shot at at least a share of the conference title.

7. Presbyterian 2-8, 0-5

Presbyterian is blown out again, this time by Coastal 65-7. The Blue Hose now turn their attention to the Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb as Presby tries to save their season from finishing winless in conference.
