1. Winthrop 14-6, 6-3 #168

  4

It has been a roller-coaster new year for the Eagles, who lost 3 straight conference games, and has since rebounded with 5 straight wins. When Winthrop is playing well, they are as good as any team in this league. We’ll see if they can be peaking at the right time of the season.

This week: 1/27 vs Charleston Southern, 1/30 vs Radford

2. UNC-Asheville 14-7, 7-2 #125

   no change

The Bulldogs stand alone in first place in the conference standings entering this week’s games. Of course, a lot of that was due to the turbulence felt across the league the past 2 weeks as UNCA was 2-2 in their past 4 games. A showdown with surging Coastal Carolina awaits the Bulldogs.

This week: 1/27 @ Coastal Carolina, 1/30 vs Longwood

3. Radford 12-9, 5-4 #192

  1

The Highlanders have wins over UNCA and Gardner-Webb in the past 2 weeks, and if it wasn’t for a 1-point loss to the Blue Hose, they would be working on a 4 game win streak. Radford hits the road for a mini-2 game road swing this week.

This week: 1/27 @ Longwood, 1/30 @ Winthrop

4. Coastal Carolina 11-8, 5-4 #182

  6

Quite a turnaround for Cliff Ellis’ squad after losing back-to-back games to Liberty and Longwood. Since then, the Chanticleers have won 3 straight including double digit wins over Presbyterian and Charleston Southern, and a 3 point victory at High Point.

This week: 1/27 vs UNC-Asheville, 1/30 vs Campbell

5. High Point 13-7, 6-3 #151

  4

High Point raced out to a 5-0 record in Big South play and looked like they might run away with the regular season championship. With losses in 3 of their past 4 games, the Panthers have come back to the pack. They look to get back on track at Campbell on Wednesday.

This week: 1/27 @ Campbell

6. Gardner-Webb 10-11, 5-4 #204

  3

The Runnin’ Bulldogs have dropped 3 straight, with 2 losses coming on the road (Asheville & Radford) and another coming at home against Winthrop by 13 points. If Gardner-Webb wants to compete for the regular season crown, they must beat the Flames at home this week.

This week: 1/27 vs Liberty, 1/30 @ Charleston Southern

7. Charleston Southern 8-12, 4-5 #283

  2

The Buccaneers began Big South play 1-4, with their only win coming against previously winless against DI opponents Liberty. Charleston Southern has responded with 3 straight wins, including 2 away from the Buc dome, before falling to Coastal Carolina this past Saturday.

This week: 1/27 @ Winthrop, 1/30 vs Gardner-Webb

8. Liberty 7-15, 4-5 #319

  2

Under head coach Ritchie McKay, the Flames have already doubled their Big South win total from a season ago, and are now looking to make a push towards the front half of the standings. Doing so, will require a win away from the Vines Center.

This week: 1/27 @ Gardner-Webb, 1/30 @ Presbyterian

9. Presbyterian 8-12, 3-6 #313

  2

The Blue Hose picked up a win over Radford by 1 point, but otherwise lost 3 games the last 2 weeks. PC is off until Saturday when they host Liberty.

This week: 1/30 vs Liberty

10. Longwood 6-15, 2-6 #297

  1

Longwood knocked off Campbell, but a late comeback in Lynchburg came up just short in a bit of controversy. The Lancers have faced injuries and suspensions all season.

This week: 1/27 vs Radford, 1/30 @ UNC-Asheville

11. Campbell 8-11, 2-7 #308

  3

The Camels have now lost 6 straight games since their upset at Winthrop. This includes losses to perennial Big South basement dwellers Presbyterian, Liberty and Longwood. It won’t be easy to stop the streak this week as they face a mad High Point and a surging Coastal Carolina.

This week: 1/27 vs High Point, 1/30 @ Coastal Carolina
