Week in Review:

Liberty Flames baseball wrapped up last week with three losses, but ended their series against the Georgia Bulldogs with a big win, 11-8. The Flames started the week at home against William & Mary, but fell short losing 5-3.

Later in the week, Liberty traveled to Athens to play in a 3 game series against the Georgia Bulldogs. The Bulldogs shut out the Flames in the opening game of the series on Friday night 12-0. This is the first time Liberty has been shut out this season. The teams met again Saturday afternoon and the Flames held the Bulldogs to a tie until the 8th inning when Georgia scored 2 runs and eventually made it a 3-1 victory. In the final game of the series, the Flames came out hot with an 11-8 victory over the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon. Liberty also reached a season high of 16 hits this game. Three key members to Liberty’s offense during the game were second baseman Bryan Aanderud, left fielder Nick Lacik, and third baseman Dalton Sype, who each had three hits throughout the game and drove in crucial runs. Liberty baseball ended the week with an overall 10-5 record.

In the Flames win over the Bulldogs, Aanderud went 3/5 with an 1 RBI. So far this season, Bryan is leading the team in batting average at .358.

Next up:

Liberty has 5 games scheduled this week. The first game of the week, the Flames face William & Mary again on Tuesday, March 12, first pitch is scheduled at 6 p.m. in Williamsburg, VA. The Flames hope to gain a victory at their second meeting with the Tribe.

On Wednesday, March 13, Liberty faces the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, scheduled for 5 p.m.

To end the week, the Flames begin conference play by hosting Charleston Southern for a three-game series at home. The first game is scheduled for Friday, March 15 at 3 p.m.
