It’s the battle of 460. Or the battle of the LUs. Or simply a battle for last place in the Big South. Liberty (6-12, 0-5) at Longwood (5-13, 1-4) tonight at 5pm. Here’s what you need to know about the Lancers:

1. It has been a bit of an up and down season for Longwood.

They concluded the nonconference portion of their schedule with a 2-9 mark against Division I opponents. Then they opened conference play with an overtime road loss to Winthrop and a double overtime win at home over Radford. They have dropped their last 3 games to Coastal, Charleston Southern, and Presbyterian.

2. The Lancers have an RPI of 336 and KenPom ranking of 327.

Compare these rankings to Liberty’s RPI of 351 and KenPom ranking of 332.

3. Lotanna Nwogbo is out with a torn ligament in his thumb.

This is Nwogbo getting dunked on while at Tulane

The 6’8″ center was averaging 12.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game this season. Longwood lost their first game without Nwogbo on Wednesday when they fell at home to Presbyterian.

4. With Nwogbo out, Coach Gee will have to rely on Quincy Taylor and Shaq Johnson.

Taylor leads the Lancers in scoring at 16.4 points per game. Johnson, the transfer from Auburn, is averaging 12.4 points per game.

5. Longwood is last in the Big South in scoring defense, giving up nearly 75 points per game to their opponents.

Maybe Liberty will finally reach the 60-point plateau for the first time against a Big South foe.

6. The Flames are 0-12 all-time at Willett Hall.

Liberty is also 0-9 away from the Vines Center this season.

7. Since Longwood joined the Big South prior to the 2012-13 season, the teams have split the season series.marshall

Each team has won both games played on their home court including the Lancers 69-66 win in Farmville last year.
