#3 on our list of the top 10 storylines surrounding Liberty football is the return of Kevin Fogg and Malcolm Boyd. Both Fogg & Boyd were supposed to use their eligibility in 2012, but gruesome injuries early in the season allowed them to take a medical redshirt. The experienced combo have a combined total of 25 starts during their career with the Flames, and both have been named team captains for the 2013 season.

Kevin Fogg returning a punt against Wake Forest

The explosive Kevin Fogg will return to a deep secondary where, prior to his injury, he was becoming a standout corner in addition to his return capabilities. Through the first 4 games of the 2012 season, Fogg was third on the team with 18 tackles and leading the team with 13 solo tackles. He also had 2 tackles for loss, 2 pass breakups, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. He was on pace for a first team all-conference season as a defensive back. But, of course, Fogg is most known for his capabilities as a returner. In 2011, he was a consensus all-American, first team all-conference as a returner. He led the nation with a 33.5 kickoff return average, a Big South single-season record. He was one of only two Division I players to have three kickoff returns for a touchdown. Last season he took over punt return duties as well, and added a punt return for touchdown to his credentials.

Boyd in high school

Boyd has started 22 games in his career for Liberty. His return to the offensive line will be a tremendous boost, as Boyd will be one of four returning starters to an otherwise inexperienced unit. Boyd was named first team all-conference as a junior.
