Jameer Nelson’s 33 points paced St. Joe’s

Liberty made its 2nd ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2004 in Buffalo, New York. The Flames were matched up with the #1 seed St. Joe’s.

St. Joe’s backcourt of Jameer Nelson & Delonte West were too much for the Flames as they went on to win 82-63 in front of 18,456 people. Nelson & West combined for 51 points. A bright spot for Liberty was freshman wing David Dees who scored a program NCAA Tournament record 22 points on 7/9 shooting. Most of FlamesNation thought Dees & Larry Blair would guide Liberty to multiple tournament appearances during their carer, but it did not pan out that way.

St. Joe’s advanced all the way to the Elite 8 before falling to Oklahoma State 64-62.
